Mehehe is a Polish etno-ambient duo that weaves together the mysticism of folk magic and the raw energy of rural traditions. Using voice, traditional instruments, and loopers, they create trance-like soundscapes rooted in village songs, solstice rituals, and ancestral spells. Their music is both lyrical and hypnotic – a modern invocation of ancient sounds.
The duo consists of Helena Matuszewska, a multi-instrumentalist and expert in traditional knee fiddles, and Basia Songin, an award-winning singer, composer, theater director, and member of the acclaimed group Sutari. Since debuting in 2018, Mehehe has gained recognition across Europe, including awards at Poland’s top etno festivals and participation in the Keychange initiative for women in music. Their debut album CIEMNIENIE earned 3rd place in Poland’s best world music albums of 2019. They are now preparing to release their next chapter: UMBRA.
