I Land Sound 2025 Open Art Call


The central theme of I Land Sound 2025 is “Day Eight” – a celebration of creativity and thinking beyond traditional boundaries.

We are launching an open art call and seeking a visionary creator whose work will become the icon of arrival – a gateway to a new dimension and a symbol of the journey’s beginning. Our goal is to find a piece that welcomes and guides every guest at the doorstep of the festival, creates visual delight and meaningful dialogue both day and night, while stimulating multiple senses. We aim to merge art, technology, the environment, and people into a harmonious experience.

The winning piece will be developed in close collaboration with the festival organizers, ensuring that the idea is brought to life and offers an unforgettable experience to festival-goers and a broader audience alike.

If your art carries visual impact and profound meaning, this call is for you! Land at the edge of the world and build the bridge to the dawn of Day Eight!


Rules and regulations:


1. The purpose:

I Land Sound is launching an open art call to find a remarkable installation that will welcome and guide guests at the heart of the festival. The piece should have an aesthetic and sensory impact, symbolising the transition into the Day Eight dimension and merging art, technology, environment, and people.


2. Participation requirements:

  • Both professional and amateur artists, as well as artist collectives, are welcome to participate.
  • To enter, applicants must submit a proposal including a description of the artwork, technical requirements, budget, and a portfolio or description of previous experience. Submissions must be sent by April 7, 2025, to kunstjeesus@ilandsound.ee.


3. Artwork requirements:

  • Alignment with the theme: The installation must align with the theme Day Eight, symbolizing the beginning of a new dimension and era.
  • Location:The installation must be located on the festival entrance route, i.e on the section between the festival gates and the first visible building, and be visually attractive both day and night.
    The installation can be placed in a single spot or span the entire pathway.
  • Overhead Installations: If the artwork extends across or above the road, it must have a minimum clearance of 4.5 meters and a width of 5 meters to allow safe passage for emergency and service vehicles.
  • Technical feasibility: The structure of the installation must be stable, weatherproof, and safe throughout the festival.
  • Environmental friendliness: Artists are encouraged to use rental equipment and recycled or eco-friendly materials.
  • Installation period: artwork must be set up between July 10–16, 2025, and dismantled between July 21 – 23, 2025, unless otherwise agreed.


4. Budget and support:

  • Up to €6,000 in funding, covering materials, transport, installation, and related costs.
  • If the project exceeds this budget, the artist must provide an additional funding plan.


5. Evaluation and criteria:

  • Creativity and originality
  • Relevance to the festival theme
  • Technical feasibility and realistic budgeting
  • Safety and durability
  • Environmental sustainability


6. Selection process:

  • Review and final selection: The festival team assesses all submissions and chooses the winner.
  • The winner will be announced on April 10, 2025
  • If the art call does not receive any work that meets the evaluation criteria, the organizing team reserves the right not to announce a winner.


7. Agreement and responsibilities:

  • The winner will sign a contract, outlining payment terms, rights, and responsibilities.
  • The artist is responsible for the installation, maintanance, and removal of the artwork.
  • The festival has the right to display, photograph, and use the artwork for promotional purposes.


8. Ownership and Future Use:

  • If the creation of the artwork requires purchasing materials or the entire artwork itself, the ownership and usage rights remain with I Land Sound Festival.
  • In that case, the festival reserves the right to reuse, modify, relocate, or repurpose the artwork for future events or other festival-related purposes.
