Since the beginning of the festival, we have tried to organise our event in a nature-friendly way, and in addition to an entertaining music and sound program, we have also taken the promotion of green practices to heart. Our collaboration with Neste is only a small step in our this year’s green endeavours. We are also chasing A Greener Festival certification. AGF is the only organisation that assesses events based on 12 different environmental factors and they also send an independent evaluator to the festival for several days. Our goal is to get feedback on our current activities, some guidelines for the future and to compare ourselves with other European festivals.
This year AGF also focuses on food’s impact on the environment and this fits our plans perfectly since we are also paying more attention than before to the produce used in the catering of the festival team and at the food area. Since nearly 26% of the world’s greenhouse gases are emitted by the food industry and the main cause for that are the meat and dairy factories, you’ll find plenty of delicious plant based food at illiku in 2023.
